Science 5 Lesson 95

Hey guys! Today I will talk to you about what I learned on my science course this week.

So here was my assignment: Write a short article about the ISS or the Soyuz rocket and spacecraft. So I’m choosing to write about the ISS. ISS stands for International Space Station.

The ISS was not all flew into space at the same time because it was as heavy as 320 cars, so they flew up in parts. They also had a russian segment a Canadian segment a US segment and more.

Today, lots of astronauts fly up there in a rocket called a Soyuz and they dock onto the ISS. The ISS is HUGE! It’s about the size of a 6 bedroom house! It’s got several docking points so that 2 or 3 crews can get on board all at the same time.

In the ISS they have a mini fridge, a toilet, 3 labs to conduct experiments and so much more that I can not even name it all. They even have a robot arm that looks like it could punch any attackers very far away into space.

Well I hope y’all enjoyed!

The End.

7 facts about Neil Armstrong

Hey guys! here is 7 facts about Neil Armstrong.

  1. Neil Armstrong was the first person to go to the moon.

2. The rocket that him and his crew used to get to space was about as tall as a 36 storey tall building.

3. Neil Armstrong learned how to fly a spaceship before he new how to drive a plane.

4. They didn’t get a very good picture of Neil on the moon.

5. Neil was more concerned about landing on the moon than actually walking on it.

6. Armstrong became a university teacher.

7. He was once a Dodge Chrysler Pitchman.

Well folks I hope y’all enjoyed!

RPC History 4 lesson 76-80

Hey guys! today my history teacher wanted me to write an essay on this topic: Summarize each of the inventions you studied this week and how they impacted history. Also, explain the most interesting thing you learned this week, and why.

So, to summarize each of the inventions I learned about this week I’m gonna start off with chess. Chess is a classic board game that most of you probably know about but do you know it’s history? If not, then you might want to stick around!

In the old days people had to work MUCH MUCH harder for food than we do know thanks to evolved technology like tractors and other farm equipment. So, when the people got a break they appreciated it very much. So, they wanted to spend it having fun and when chess came around they started playing chess for their brakes.

I also learned about The Arquebus. The Arquebus is the first gun ever invented. But the gunpowder was very weak wich made the gun poor quality.

I learned about the printing press too. The printing press was used for important documents telegrams and the news paper. It was much more efficient to use the printing press then to use a paper and quill.

The last thing I learned about is the mainspring. The mainspring was mainly used for pocket watches or wrist watches. The mainspring is the most interesting thing I learned about because it’s pretty cool how that when you wind it up it stores energy in it that you can actually control.

Well folks I hope y’all enjoyed!

The end.

What I got for my B-day

Hey guys! Today I will tell you what I got for my B-day. Ok so my real birthday is today but we celebrated it yesterday because my mom is very busy today. But I did get one of my presents today.

By the way anything I mark in purple is my favorite, yellow is my second, green is my third, blue is my fourth, red is my fifth, orange is my sixth, black is my seventh, grey is my eighth, dark green is my 9th and dark blue is my least.

So first I got three really cool walkie talkies that all have flashlights too! Here is what they look like:

Here are the rest of the presents. And remember to look out for the color!

My sister gave me 5 bucks but I don’t have a picture for that so I’ll just say that it’s tied with the walkie talkies in #2.

She also gave me a super cool painting that she made and since I do not have a picture of that I will just say it’s #3

I couldn’t find the exact same thing but I got a jogging suit something like this:

My grandma knitted me some green slippers but I don’t have a picture again so I’ll just say they are #6.

This is the one I got today:

I don’t hate this one or not like it its just I have a lot of great presents and I’m very lucky to have them.

It looked something like that but their was a white honeycomb pattern.

Well that’s all for now folks I hope y’all enjoyed!

RPC History Lesson 66-70

Hey guys! Today I will talk to you about the four invention that I have learned about today! So the inventions I learned about today was Spectacles, The mechanical clock, Paper mills and Robert Grosseteste. So let’s start with Spectacles!

Spectacles…

Spectacles are another way of saying eye glasses. Did you now that no one knows exactly which person invented eyeglasses? Eye glasses were not very popular until Teddy Roosevelt was wearing them in 1910. Before Teddy Roosevelt was wearing them everyone was saying that you looked like a weak and old person when you were wearing them. But not anymore! My grandparents use eye glasses because of their old age. For old folks old age was scary because back in the day, eye glasses were not there to save their vision. Really they were invented in 1286 they just weren’t very popular. I have a quite a bit of my family members wear eye glasses to improve and correct their vision

Mechanical clocks…

So let’s start talking about mechanical clocks. Before mechanical clocks the world was very, very different then it is now. Mechanical clocks are on of the world’s oldest human maid inventions. The first mechanical clock was invented somewhere in 723 or 725 A.D. It was invented by a chinese named Yi Xing. They were much better than the previous inventions such as, water clocks, that freeze at night or the hourglass that doesn’t really tell you the exact time like the clock does now.

Paper Mills…

So, I guess it’s time to talk about paper mills! Ts’ai Lun invented paper around 105 A.D. because he had got inspired by a little living creature. The paper wasp. Paper wasps make their nest out of a liquid that comes out of their body. Then, when the liquid dries, the nest is created and it looks like they’re made out of paper. The liquid is just wood chips chewed up into a liquid. So that’s probably why they got their name as “The paper wasp”. But the Europeans were still using parchment for a while even after paper had came to life. But eventually they figured it out.

Robert Grosseteste

We must now talk about Robert Grosseteste. Robert Grosseteste. Grosseteste was born into a humble Anglo-Norman family in the county of Suffolk in England. He first appears in the historical record as a witness to a charter of the Bishop of Lincoln, written between 1189 and 1192. His title of master of arts indicates that he had acquired sufficient learning to be entitled to teach. He was a teacher or a scholar.

Well thank you for reading about these inventions, I hope you have a good day, and I will see you next time!

Thanks!

~Emma Lewington.

Discovery Science End! (Lesson 176-180)

Hey guys! Today I have finished all 180 lesson of discovery science! I will soon be coming back with grade five, but I don’t think I ever told you that I’m actually supposed to be in grade two. But we said that I would try skipping ahead a little and if that was to hard we would back up a grade. Anyway a quote that Daniel told me about from Winston Churchill said was: “Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It’s the courage to continue that counts.”

Now that is all for grade four, hope you had a great day and I’ll see you next time.

RPC Science 4 Lesson 171-175

Hey guys today I will talk to about the four things I learned about today. So first I learned about cyclones then kelp forests. So let’s start with cyclones. Cyclones are one of the most dangerous storms in the world. They can be super powerful. Here are the questions that I’ve been asked.

  1. What are scientists trying to learn from this project?✅ What kind of data are scientists using?✅ Where did they get the data from?✅ How did your involvement help the scientists?✅

My involvement helped the scientists because then they can discover new things and facts about the cyclones. Like I said, Scientist are trying to learn more about how cyclones work. Scientists are using satellites and aircrafts to get their data. Scientist are using the same data that the satellite will be providing.

So now let’s talk about kelp forests. Kelp forest aren’t just any forest they are underwater forest made from kelp. Lots of different species of fish live there because not much species of sharks like to swim around a whole bunch of kelp plants that so that is an advantage for the fish. Kelp needs a rocky space to hold on to so in doesn’t float away. The most common fish in kelp forests are the damsel fish, the garabuildy. Turbid snails climb up the stems of kelp plants and they start munching away at the alegy. A very rare member of the kelp forest is the torpedo ray. She has a very unusual tail compared to the other breeds of rays. They have very shark like tails they even swim like a shark usually would because they are relatives. Another problem in the ocean is invasive species. One of the very well known ones, are zebra mussels. They have invaded The Great Lakes, Saint Lawrence River and numerous smaller lakes, rivers and ponds in Canada and the United States. It was brought as larvae from the balasque tanks in the big cargo boats. Sometimes the boats carry tiny invasive species that get unloaded in to the water. Another invasive species are the round goby fish. And they love to eat zebra mussels! 🙂 Bass, Walie, Salmon and Trout like to eat the gobies. Last but certainly not least is the Lionfish. Lionfish have needles on their backs that act like syringes. Here is a link to help fisherman slow down the population of lionfish: https://lionfishcentral.org/support-levels/how-ever-you-can-help/ thanks for helping!

That’s all folks, hope y’all enjoyed!

RPC Science 4 Lesson 166-170

Hey guys today I will talk to you about 3d printing. So in my five lessons I learned how to make a 3d design and have designed something for our friend, Stephan Subero and his wife Sara and also for the kids, Skyla and Sadiel. It’s to remind Skyla and Sadiel to hang up their clothes after they are done playing outside. Here are the questions I have to answer.

  • What problem did you identify? Check
  • Why was it a problem? Check
  • How did you find a solution? Check
  • Describe your prototype (3D modeled solution). Check
  • What do you expect your prototype to do? Check

It was a problem because they kept on forgetting to hang up their clothes, so eventually that built up into a bad habit. I found the solution by thinking up a thousand little ideas, and then finally found the golden one. My creation is a coat hanger that has a bar that stretches out and it has a few decorations such as their names, stars and butterflies. I expect my creation to just be a little bar sticking out blocking half of the space they have to get out of the entry room, reminding them to hang their coats.

Well thank you guys for reading my essay and I look forward to my next one!

RPC Science 4 Lesson 161- 165

Hey guys today I will talk to you about this:

Asteroids!

  1. What are scientists trying to learn from this project? ✅
  2. What kind of data are scientists using?✅
  3. Where did they get the data from?✅
  4. How did your involvement help the scientists?✅

It is a Zooniverse project but it might be closed by now, but it’s about asteroids. So here is what Scientist are trying to learn about on them. The Scientist want to learn about new asteroids and figure out the Science behind them and their deep secret.

Scientist are using two robotic spacecrafts to study the asteroids from up close. So cool! They probably got there data from a solar system in space that was closest to the sun. My and everyone else’s involvement helped the scientist by studying and finding asteroids in the pictures taken.

Sunspots!

  1. What are scientists trying to learn from this project? ✅
What kind of data are scientists using?✅
  2. Where did they get the data from?✅
  3. How did your involvement help the scientists?✅

They are trying to discover how big they can be and how small they can be and if there is different types of sunspots of all shapes and all kinds! Scientist are using two robotic spacecrafts to study the asteroids from up close. They probably got there data from a solar system in space that was closest to the sun. My involvement helped the Scientist reach their goal!

That’s all for today folks, hope y’all enjoyed!
